[PSP® system / PSP®go] Updated 05/06/2013

With themes you can change the look and feel of the PSP system's XMB™ icons and background images. And, if you're a graphics pro, you can create your own theme for the PSP system.
If you want to learn how to change and apply themes, see using themes on the PSP.

Requirements for PSP theme creation

  • A personal computer that runs Microsoft Windows
  • An image editing program (MSPaint, Adobe Photoshop, etc.)
  • PSP Custom Theme Toolbox (download the zip file from PSP Guides)

Topics covered in this article

Refer to the following topics to learn more about creating and installing a custom PSP theme.

PSP Custom Theme Toolbox

  1. To start creating your custom theme, go to PSP Guides and download the "PSP Custom Theme Toolbox" zip file.

  2. Extract / unzip the "PSP Custom Theme Toolbox" zip file and save to your computer.

  3. After you extract, you will see folders with the necessary files for each step of the custom theme creation process, including:
    • Icon and Wallpaper templates
    • "PSP Custom Theme Converter" program
    • Default Project saved as a ".txt" file
    • "How To" Basics and Advanced Walkthroughs
    • Layered Photoshop template icons
    • "PSPCustomThemeConverter.exe" program used to create the theme

Note: A working example of each item can be found by going to "File\Open" and select "PSPTheme_default.txt". This will only work if the Toolbox was extracted to your C:\ drive because of the way the project file links to the associated images.
