Below are some of the most commonly asked questions regarding the beta program for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system:

  • How do I become considered for beta tests for the PS3?
To be considered for a beta for the PS3, the user must be at least 18 years old with a valid Sony Entertainment Network account, and be opted-in for marketing materials under Notification Preferences in Sony Entertainment Network account Management. If we hold an application for consideration in a beta, please keep in mind, we receive many more applications for a beta test than we can responsibly accept, so users are often selected such that we have a desired weighting of different geographic, demographic, internet usage, and game play variables as required by that particular game's beta testing goals.

  • To become a beta user for the PS3, is a user required to have an existing Sony Entertainment Network account (with a valid email address used for the PSN Sign-in ID)?
Yes, the user must have a Sony Entertainment Network account with a valid email address to participate in a beta. Information about opportunities to be a beta tester will be sent to the email address used for your PSN sign-in ID.

  • My beta is using a beta feedback site that is part of us.PlayStation.com. How do I access that site?
A beta may use a beta feedback site that is tied to your signed-in state on us.PlayStation.com. If you are selected as a beta tester for a beta that is using the us.PlayStation.com beta feedback site, you can access that site by signing-in on us.PlayStation.com and clicking the “Beta” tab that will appear below your PSN ID in the upper right corner.

  • To become a Beta user, does a user need to have a Sony Entertainment Network account (email)? Master or Sub Account?
For downloadable PS3 betas, a valid PlayStation Network master or sub account email address can be submitted, provided that account is for a user that is at least 18 years of age, and is opted-in for marketing materials.

  • Can a user sign up for a beta without a Sony Entertainment Network account and be accepted?
A user can not be considered for a PS3 downloadable beta unless they are at least 18 years of age, are opted-in for marketing materials, and have a valid Sony Entertainment Network account at the time of applying for the beta test.

  • Can I change my email address for my Sony Entertainment Network account after I applied to a beta?
A user should not change their PlayStation Network email address (Sign-in ID) after applying for a beta test. This email address should not be changed until after the beta test is complete. Changing the email address after applying for a beta may cause issues with our ability to ensure the beta, and any other information related to the beta, is sent to you.
