In order to use Call of Duty ELITE, you must sign up and link your Call of Duty ELITE account to your PSN ID. You can sign up either within the game or via the COD ELITE website.

From the PS3

  1. Log in to the Multiplayer section of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and select ELITE from the menu.
  2. Confirm your selection to launch the ELITE App.
  3. The app will detect if your PSN ID is affiliated with ELITE. You have the option to link to an already established ELITE account or to create a new one.
  4. Choose to automatically or manually fill out the form. Auto-fill will pull directly from your Sony Entertainment Network account information. If any data is missing, it will default to manual.
  5. Fill out the form and click submit.
  6. The Terms of Service will be displayed. Accept them to move on.
  7. You registration is confirmed. You now have limited access to the ELITE features.
  8. A confirmation email will be sent. Follow the link in the email to complete the registration.

From the website

  1. Log in to the Call of Duty ELITE website (
  2. On the top right corner of the site, sign in to your account or create a new Call of Duty ELITE account.
  3. Once logged in, click on your Call of Duty ELITE account name and select Profile. 
  4. In the Consoles section, click the + sign next to the "Link your Sony Entertainment Network account. "
  5. You will be informed that you will be going to the PlayStation site to verify your account. Click "Continue. "
  6. Enter your PSN Sign-in ID and password and click "Sign In. "
  7. You account is now linked and a green check will appear next to your PSN Online ID.

Below are some solutions if you are encountering any issues when signing up for Call of Duty ELITE.

Question: When I try to retrieve my password in the Link Online ID section I get a "Bad Error Response" error message.
Answer: Please make sure that you have entered your email address correctly. Any additional characters including spaces at the end of the email may cause this issue to occur.

Q: I downloaded the ELITE app for my console but the app didn't work when I launched it. How do I fix this?
A: You will have to delete the app and reload it onto your console.

To delete the app on PlayStation 3

  1. Log in to the Profile that was used to download the ELITE app
  2. From the PlayStation 3 launch menu go to "Game"
  3. Scroll down to Call of Duty ELITE and Press the triangle button
  4. Select "Delete" and "Yes"
  5. Once the app is removed, enter the Multiplayer section of MW3 and select ELITE to download the app again.
    This may also be the result of having special characters (&, ^, %, etc.) in the names of your custom classes. Removing the special characters may fix this issue.

Q:  ELITE Registration for Black Ops II

  1. Load Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
  2. Select "Multiplayer" in the Main Menu.
  3. Select ELITE.  If you have not downloaded the ELITE app, you will be prompted to do so now.  There is no fee to download the app.
  4. Select "Sign up for "Call of Duty ELITE!" and provide the information needed to register for ELITE.  

Note:  Your password must use the following format:

  • 8-20 characters
  • One letter
  • One number
  • Cannot repeat the same character 3 times
  • Cannot contain sequential numbers

Q: When I try to log into ELITE I get an error saying that my password does not meet the requirements.
A: Please make sure that your password follows the following format:

  • 8-20 characters
  • One letter
  • One number
  • Cannot repeat the same character 3 times
  • Cannot contain sequential numbers

Q: Why can't I see the player that I have chosen to follow in my player list?
A: The player list needs time to update. Please allow up to 30 minutes for the list to update.
