This article explains the various ways in with PSP games can be played on the PS Vita.

The PS Vita can play digital versions of PSP games if:


The PSP game was purchased and downloaded from the PlayStation Store using a PS Vita.

Or

The PSP game was purchased from the PlayStation Store using a PS3 with the same PSN/SEN account that's linked to the PS Vita.


Note: The PSP game must be listed as Vita Compatible.

PS Vita does not support UMD discs.



 

To play a PSP game that you purchased and downloaded from the PlayStation Store using your PS Vita:

  1.  Locate the application on the Home Screen and tap it. This will open the game's LiveArea.
  2. To read the game's instruction manual, tap the "book with a question mark" icon in the LiveArea. Tap "Start" to play the game.

 

To play a PSP game that you purchased and downloaded from the PlayStation Store using a PS3 with the same PSN/SEN account that's linked to the PS Vita:

  1. Connect the PS Vita to the PlayStation 3 with the PS Vita's multi-use cable. Make sure both the PS Vita and the PS3 are turned on, and make sure no programs or downloads are running on the PS3. From this point on, all actions will take place on the PS Vita's screen.
  2. Tap the Content Manager application, which begins to bounce up and down as soon as you plug the PS Vita into the PS3. The default location for this application is the second page of the Home Screen.
  3. Tap the "Start" option from the LiveArea.
  4. Tap the "Connect to PS3 system" option.
  5. Tap the PS3 System -> PS Vita System option that's located under the "Copy Content" heading.
  6. Tap the Applications option.
  7. Tap the Applications (PSP/Other) option.
  8. Tap the Applications Downloaded on the PS3 System option.
  9. Any PSP game that's eligible to be copied to the PS Vita will appear in this list. Tap the box next to the game(s) you wish to copy -- a check mark will appear next to the game. Tap the Copy option at the bottom of the screen to begin the copy process.
  10. Once the game has been copied to the PS Vita, it will appear as a pulsing icon in the last page of your Home Screen. Tap the application to open the LiveArea.
  11. To read the game's instruction manual, tap the "book with a question mark" icon in the LiveArea. Tap "Start" to play the game.
