When you want to copy any files on the PS Vita, you will need to use the Content Manager application on the PS Vita. You can copy files to and from a PS3 or PC to your PS Vita.

Copying to and from a PS3

Before doing this, make sure:

  • Insert the memory card into the PS Vita.
  • Link a Sony Entertainment Network account with your PS Vita system.
  • Sign in to the PlayStation Network on your PS3 system.
    To use Content Manager, you must sign in to the same Sony Entertainment Network account on the PS3 as your PS Vita.
  • On the PS3, close all open applications and select Users icon [User].


  1. Connect your PS Vita to the PS3 system using a USB cable.
    On the PS Vita, tap Image (Content Manager) > [Start].
  2. Tap either [Image PS3 System → Image PS Vita System] or [Image PS Vita System → Image PS3 System].

  3. Tap [Videos], [Music], [Photos], or [Applications].

  4. Select the checkboxes of the content your want to copy, and then tap [Copy]. For Applications, you have an additional option to Delete.

NOTES:

  • Only SD video content from the PlayStation Store can be copied to the PS Vita.
  • Saved data and add-ons on the PS Vita card cannot be copied or deleted.
  • When multiple Sony Entertainment Network accounts are linked with the PS3 system, the applications for all accounts are displayed. However, you can only copy and delete applications for the account that is linked with your PS Vita system.
  • Some types of content from the PlayStation Store is limited to the number of devices per account.
  • Some types of content cannot be copied.



Copying to and from a PC

Before doing this, make sure:

  • Insert the memory card into the PS Vita.
  • Link a Sony Entertainment Network account with your PS Vita.
  • Connect the computer to the Internet.
  • Install and download Content Manager Assistant on your computer (Windows/Mac). Visit http://cma.dl.playstation.net/cma/ to download the application.


  1. On your computer, check that Content Manager Assistant is installed and started.

    Windows:
    Look for the Content Manager Assistant icon in the notification area of the taskbar.

  2. Connect your PS Vita system to the computer using a USB cable.
  3. On your PS Vita system, tap on Image (Content Manager) > [Start].
  4. Tap either [Image PC → Image PS Vita System] or [Image PS Vita System → Image PC].
