The PlayStation® Gold and PULSE Elite Wireless Headsets offer access to custom audio modes via the Headset Companion App. These modes have been created for a range of titles and genres and are designed to enhance the audio in your favorite games. To download custom modes as well as create and modify your own audio profiles*, follow the steps below.

*Personalized EQs are only available on the PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset.

Downloading the Headset Companion App

  1. Go to the PlayStation® Store and search for the free Headset Companion App. You can also find it in the “Apps” section of the store. Once you've found the app, download it.

  2. Once the app has been downloaded, it will live on your home screen on PS4™ and in the Games section of the XMB on PS3™.

  3. Plug your headset into your system using the included USB cable.

  4. Select your headset within the Headset Companion App.


Custom Audio Modes


For the PlayStation Gold Headset

  1. Choose the mode you would like to download to your headset and press X. You can customize and download your own EQ settings for the PlayStation® Gold Wireless Headset here by selecting Custom and pressing the triangle button.

  2. Press X again to finish the download. The selected mode will now be available on your headset’s setting 2.


For the PULSE Elite Headset

  • You can select up to six custom audio modes to download to your headset with X.

  • Your active modes will appear in the left column and can be accessed by pressing the Mode button on your headset. An audio cue will let you know which audio mode you have selected.


Troubleshooting Headset Companion App

Try these troubleshooting suggestions below if you experience issues syncing audio modes with your headset, or if your headset does not pair with your system.

 

Upload Audio Modes to Headset using a USB Cable

  1. Launch the Headset Companion app from the PS4™ home screen or PS3™ XMB.

  2. Connect your headset to your system using a USB charge cable or Micro-USB charge cable.

  3. Select an audio mode you want loaded on your headset > Add > NextLoad.

  4. The audio mode should upload to the headset. This may take a few moments.


Update the Headset Companion App to Load Audio Modes

  1. From the PS4™ home screen, highlight the Headset Companion app tile and press Options. Make sure you are signed into PSN.

  2. Select Check for Update.

  3. The Headset Companion app will update if a new version is available. This may take a few moments.

 

Restore Headset to Load Audio Modes

  1. Launch the Headset Companion app. Make sure you are signed into PSN.

  2. Press Options > Restore Headset > follow on-screen instructions. 

  3. It may take a few moments to apply firmware.

  4. You may need to reload any audio modes to your headset after performing this action.

 

Reset the Headset if Unable to Pair with PlayStation

  1. Make sure the wireless adaptor is plugged into your PlayStation system.

  2. Turn OFF your headset located near the ear cup, then back ON again.

  3. You should see the headset pair with the system by the blinking light on the headset and wireless adaptor.
