To install the Final Fantasy XI series on the PS3 HDD

  • PS3 system software 1.31 or later
Visit PS3 System Software Update to download and install the most recent version.
  • "PS2 System Data"
"PS2 System Data" must be installed on the PS3 HDD. This file is free for download from the PlayStation®Store.
  1. Install the PlayOnlineTM Viewer
    • Insert the PlayOnlineTM Viewer and Tetra Master® PlayStation®2 format disc that accompanies Final Fantasy®XI in the PS3, and then select the [disc] icon.
    • If you have not created a game partition for Final Fantasy®XI, you will be asked whether you want to create the partition or not. Select [Yes] to create the partition. The partition requires 10 GB of free space on the hard disk and takes about 10 minutes to create.
    • When the partition has been created, the disc will be loaded. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the PlayOnlineTM Viewer. For details on the installation process, refer to the software manual supplied with Final Fantasy®XI.

  2. Install Final Fantasy®XI
For details on the installation process, refer to the software manual supplied with Final Fantasy XI. Depending on the product in use, you may need to switch discs during the installation process.

  3. Quit the game
When the installation of Final Fantasy XI has completed, press and hold down the PS button to quit the game. Display the XMBTM home menu and find an icon labeled "FINAL FANTASY XI" under the Game icon. You no longer need the game disc to start the game.

  4. Start PlayOnlineTM Viewer and Final Fantasy®XI
If you select the FINAL FANTASY XI icon and press the X button, the PlayOnlineTM Viewer will start and you can then select Final Fantasy®XI and begin play. (PlayOnlineTM Viewer and Final Fantasy®XI will be updated as necessary.)

NOTE: You must use the PlayOnline/Tetra Master disc that comes with Final Fantasy XI to install any expansions for Final Fantasy XI.
