[PS3™ system] Updated 01/08/2014

Remote Play allows a PSP system to connect wirelessly to a PS3 system and transfers some functionality of the PS3 to the PSP system. With remote play, a PSP system may access files that are located on the PS3, as well as, play certain software titles including PS oneTM format software game discs (as of system software 3.80 for the PSP system and 2.10 for the PS3).

Please note that videos downloaded from the PlayStation®Store cannot be viewed by the PSP system using remote play.

PS3 and PSP

Remote Play Connection Options

The Remote Play connection can be made in one of two ways:

  • Remote Play over the Internet
Connecting to the PS3 over the Internet using a remote Wi-Fi Access Point (WAP).
  • Remote Play over a Private Network
Using the PS3 as a Wi-Fi access point to connect the PSP system and the PS3. This option does not require an Internet connection in order to use Remote Play.

  5. A message of "Register completed" will appear and Remote Play may be started. If the PS3 system has Wi-Fi capability a new connection on the PSP system called "PlayStation®3" will be created which will be associated with the registered PS3 system. This connection may be used to start Remote Play over a private network.

If the PSP system was already registered to another PS3 system for Remote Play, a message indicating that the PSP system has already been registered to another PS3 system for Remote Play will appear. Selecting [Yes] will continue the registration process. The PSP system will then no longer be registered to the previous PS3 system.
